About: Evelyn Reeses is the rye-and-ginger
infused divorcée of a certain age – Executive
Secretary/star-in-the-making. After conquering
every emcee gig from retirement parties to
curling banquets, our heroine decides to take her
act to the small screen. The only problem is,
Evelyn doesn’t know “a damn thing” about TV land.
So she picks up the phone and discovers that ET
Canada needs an audition tape from this aspiring
Entertainment Reporter. “How hard can it be?”
thinks Evelyn, grabbing a borrowed video camera
and newly retired office pal/film student,
Dorothy McKay. Off they go to the Film Festival,
where Evelyn tries to find celebrities to
interview. They’re nowhere to be seen and every
gala and press conference is off limits, but that
doesn’t stop our lip-stick smeared Miss Reese
from taking her campy theatrics to the streets.
What results is head-turning guerilla comedy
between Evelyn and unsuspecting strangers
attending or working TIFF movies.
