From Glam-Glam Productions and the creator of Fringe Festival darling Evelyn Reese comes a comedic take on the Toronto International Film Festival that’s unlike anything film buffs have ever seen. Beware the launch of EVELYN REESES: NEAR THE RED CARPET!

Susan Fischer stars as the rye-and-ginger infused divorcée of a certain age – Executive Secretary/star-in-the-making Evelyn Reese. After conquering every emcee gig from retirement parties to curling banquets, our heroine decides to take her act to the small screen. The only problem is, Evelyn doesn’t know “a damn thing” about TV land. So she picks up the phone and discovers that ET Canada needs an audition tape from this aspiring Entertainment Reporter. “How hard can it be?” thinks Evelyn, grabbing a borrowed video camera and newly retired office pal/film student, Dorothy McKay. Off they go to the Film Festival, where Evelyn tries to find celebrities to interview. They’re nowhere to be seen and every gala and press conference is off limits, but that doesn’t stop our lip-stick smeared Miss Reese from taking her campy theatrics to the streets. What results is head-turning guerilla comedy between Evelyn and unsuspecting strangers attending or working TIFF movies.

Evelyn Reese is the alter-ego of queer Toronto comedian Susan Fischer. As Evelyn, she has performed at every major comedy stage in Toronto including The Second City and Buddies in Bad Times Theatre. Evelyn has developed a following in both the local comedy scene and gay community. Taking her one-lady shows to Fringe Festivals in San Francisco and across Canada, she has attracted legions of out-of-town fans too, not to mention five-star reviews and a “Best of Fest” award.
